If you are a Nicholas Sparks or Richard Paul Evans fan, I'm betting you will like author Meserve's new book GOOD SAM. Uplifting, heart wrenching and a two hankie read, this story is a winner.Good character development, believable dialogue and a plotline that most people can dream about - finding $100,000 on your doorstep. I liked the news reporting portions of the story very much - very interesting.
This was a quick read but still substantial. It would have been nice to have some of the focus be on the recipients of the money and the ending felt a bit rushed but this was still a read-through-the-night story and I enjoyed it.

A very entertaining mystery/romance! Kate's instincts about the identity of the person leaving $100k on doorstops around Los Angeles - does she trust them, does she not? This is a very clever little tale- nicely written and well plotted, with good characters in Kate and Eric (as well as in boo-hiss Jack) as well as nice vignettes of the people Sam helps. I very much enjoyed this quick read and thank Netgalley for the ARC. I'm looking for the next book in the series.
This is the first book I have read from this author and I loved it! What a wonderful story - with all the bad in the world, it's always nice to hear the 'good' stories in the news. Good Sam is the good news and it's always nice to know that there are those people out there. The 2 main characters get you and keep you reading and you keep reading to find out the story behind the Good Sam! You won't be disappointed in this book!
Dete Meserve hit a home run with her novel "Good Sam." The book is a joy to read from beginning to end with a creative storyline and well-developed characters. While a simply enjoyable easy-flowing read, Meserve's work has a deeper meaning significant to the times in which we live. With both romance and a touch of mystery, I recommend this novel not only for personal reading enjoyment, but as a great gift for other readers. Meserve certainly knows how to tell an entertaining story that is pure pleasure to read!
I loved the idea of this book from the start--the news reporting on the kindness and good happening in the world. Much of what our world needs more of. As the reader follows news anchor Kate Bradley from breaking the Good Sam news story involving a good Samaritan leaving 100K on peoples' Los Angeles doorsteps, to falling for the sweet, handsome captain of the Urban Search and Rescue Team, to avoiding her persistent ex-fiance demanding to reunite, to pinpointing the identity of the good behind the cash, I could not wait to discover what was going to happen next...I read this book in the course of two days, and put it down only to go to work and to sleep. I loved how the author led me to believe one thing--which had me wondering...perhaps this was planted in here to throw us off course? Evidence of a true mystery, laced with a love story and a hint of tragedy. A story that will leave you with a warm fuzzy feeling, and the hope that indeed, no matter how much negative there is to report on, good news is always on the horizon.
I enjoyed this story about a good samaritan who begins leaving satchels of money on front porches of people in need. Just enough clues are given as to the identity of "Good Sam" to keep you guessing. I like how the author let the details unfold through news reporter, Kate, and her relationships with the two men and also with the recipients of the cash.
Well-developed story that held my attention throughout, and threw in a few surprises as well.
I listened tothe audible version, and I think in this case, I would have preferred the print copy. Not that there was anything wrong with the narration. I just think this story lends itself better to the written word.
I loved this book. Filled with excitement I could not put this book down. For the first time in a long time, I feel certain that I know (in mystery it is who done it) who, what, why of the story. Guess what I am right.. oh but I am wrong also. How could that be?I worked for a newspaper in a couple of different states . It did help me understand the business end of the news/l paper. Really a good mystery that is hard to put down.
I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this book. I found it on Bookbub and liked the sound of the story - and the cover. But when I started reading it, I found myself totally enjoying myself! I was able to figure it out, but that's never an issue for me. I don't need to be surprised as long as the story, the journey is good. And this one is wonderful. I recommended it to my sister who wanted a feel good book because she's pregnant )
