Somewhat disappointingly the 4th and possibly final keeley book. The book starts out with a slightly larger time jump then normal, which wouldn't be a big deal, except that a new character is introduced - I'm not 100% clear if the book "short cuts" takes place before or after this book, as when I tried to read it, I found it so annoying I stopped fairly early on, but I absolutely hate when authors do this; if this were book 5, even going off on a complete tangent like short cuts, it would be fine, but having all this missing information makes me feel like I've been duped somehow, and now I had to buy some other book to understand this one.The new character is especially annoying too - the authors dry and direct style of writing works for keeley because ultimately, she is a demon - her instincts aren't human, so the alien qualities of the character's voice actually work for her, imo, but the same can't be said for this character, who appears to be a snowflake of a human with a demon power.
The story itself has a few interesting gems, like creating a pocket universe, meeting fantastical creatures, and depleted uranium grenades, but I kind of felt the notes were just a little bit off, like a sequel trying to capture the exact same feel as a the original
having said this, I do hope a "5th" book IS made - I really enjoyed the first 3 books in the series, and would like to move past this weak bridge to her adulthood

Demon Trap Keeley Thomson Book 4 eBook PS Power Reviews
this series is very entertaining. I know that it has been written for young adults and I'm far from a young adult but the story and the people keep you chuckling all the way through the book.I read about a book a day so it is very nice to find a series that keeps giving.
I'm still not quite sure if it is a number of authors publishing under the P S Power byline, but this book was a good addition to the chain. It sort of follows the book Shortcuts, in that it has characters from that book in it. It did advance the Keely storyline, but not as far as I would have liked.
Oh well... I'll gladly purchase the following books in the series, and even the side stories. Power never fails to entertain.
This installment brings Keeley more into her new found life as a Greater Demon. She has much to learn, but she has lots of innate talent and learns very quickly.
Enjoy the ride with her as she grows into her role as the Mistress of Souls.
I eagerly awaited the release of this new Keeley adventure, both because I enjoy her character and with the addition of Zack to the Keeleyverse, we have a chance to learn more about the "little people" who inhabit it. As a Greater Demon, Keeley pretty much terrifies everyone not a Greater Demon, but Zack gives us more depth and that is apparent in this book.
I don't want to give any spoilers here because the author has pretty much made it one of his trademarks to throw curveballs at readers, but this streamlined, action-packed story has a lot of startling revelations, and not just about Keeley and her place in the universe. We finally get to the "date" with Zack and the event is all we expected and more. Leeley's sister Darla is starting to grow on me, since she is not quite as unfeeling as she pretends. Also, Keeley's habit of turning off her emotions, something commented on negatively from time to time, doesn't prevent her from doing the right thing at crunch time. This book represents a turning point for everyone's favorite little Greater Demon, and when is her birthday anyway? Her seventeen birthday bash should be a blast.
If you have read any of the other Keeley books, you will enjoy this one.
Perhaps the most interesting book in the Keeley Thomson series to date. Keeley has been forced to grow up quickly, given her recently discovered "Greater Demon" nature. Far faster than average, as we discover while we read.
This book merges some aspects of the (same universe) Other Places series in unexpected ways, leading to many questions along with possible twists and turns as both series progress...
An enjoyable and interesting read, this book should not be read as a "stand alone" -- rather, read the first 3 Keeley Thomson books, then the Other Places "Shortcuts" book, for a much better perspective and a more enjoyable experience...
Normally I would put in five stars for how gripping and enchanting this book/series is.
Sadly this book has some required reading if you want to make sense of the first few chapters. The confusion could of been fixed with an easy prologue telling about these new people.
If you are at all confused in the beginning of this book read "shortcuts" it explains the new location and the five or so of the new unexplained characters that show up without sufficient explanation.
Other then that the book rocks socks like the rest of the series.
This series starts off with a lot of promise and then goes downhill in the later books. There are gaps in the books where the story jumps around and you feel like you missed a whole book somewhere. The main problem is that the character becomes too powerful too quickly with no real development to the point where she can just take control of anyone by thinking about it. There's no real drama or conflict in the story and the character becomes more distant and shallow as the series goes one. The first book was good and sets up a world that had a huge amount of promise but the series doesn't quite deliver.
A young teen may indeed enjoy the series. It's not bad. However there are better out there.
