I must admit that fantasy is not my typical genre of choice. Upon the recommendation of a friend, I decided to give this book a chance. I quickly became so enraptured by this fast-moving adventure book that I found myself carrying the book around the house as I tried to accomplish everyday tasks while continuing to read.

As a female, I identified with the character Andrea and her strength, but the most enjoyable aspect of the book was the interplay between the diverse characters working together to defeat Nicholas. The banter among the characters reminded me of my own diverse friends and our ability to simultaneously respect and tease one another.

My only disappointment is that it had to end and I must wait for the author to release book two in the series. I highly recommend this book for adults, even though the description says the target audience is teen readers. Anyone can appreciate the struggle to overcome adversity and the power of friendship and courage in facing challenges in life. Thanks to M. Ray Allen, I have been introduced to a new genre which I previously ignored.

Engaging book that is hard to put down. Set in Mid evil times on an Earth-like world with magic, sorcery and mythological creatures. Great development of characters in what are sub-stories of their own, all converging on a situation, not of the main charcters doing, requiring them to save the world from evil domination. I am looking forward to a Volume 2.

I really enjoyed this book. The author's writing style places you firmly in the world. The characters are interesting and diverse. The plot keeps you entangled with twists and turns. Highly recommend.
This is quite the engaging story. The characters are quirky, charming and interesting. The adventurers are entertaining and charismatic, the supporting characters are realistic, and I love the attitude that Zaroth, the wizard, gives the others.

The story unfolds in a fashion that is at once familiar but unpredictable as well. It's an enjoyable read and I'm looking forward to the sequel.
I gave this book a 5-star rating because it had a fantastic cast of great characters who shared a wonderful adventure together. This tale brings loose ends miraculously together at the ending. It's a fast paced & easy read story you'll not want to put down.
This is the author's first book and it shows, but I enjoyed the book. There are multiple character story lines in the opening chapters that are brought together nicely, with only a few minor holes that could have used some more detail. Author leaves some nice story in place for future books and I would pick those up in the future to see how these characters develop and mature. Good job Mr. Allen.
